Discuss the relationship between the Earth's rotation and the location of tidal bulges
What will be an ideal response?
The tides appear to move water in toward shore (the flood tide) and to move water away from shore (the ebb tide). However, Earth's rotation carries various locations into and out of the tidal bulges, which are in fixed positions relative to the Moon and the Sun. In essence, alternating high and low tides are created as Earth constantly rotates inside fluid bulges that are supported by the Moon and the Sun.
