I am most interested in finding out which brain systems are responsible for processing the various forms of memory. Once we know where different types of memories are processed, we may be able to determine how many forms of memory there are. For instance, we know that the hippocampus helps us process episodic memories--Clive Wearing could not do this because he injured his hippocampus. But where does the brain process musical abilities, mathematical abilities, and other procedural memories?
