Discuss what the text means when it suggests that "the fetus signals the mother when it is ready to be born."
What will be an ideal response?
Fetal hormones are released from the adrenal pituitary glands. These hormones stimulate the placenta and the uterus to secrete prostaglandins that cause labor contractions by exciting the muscles of the uterus. Later during labor, the mother's pituitary gland releases oxytocin. This hormone will stimulate the stronger contractions that are necessary to expel the baby.
