Discuss the impact that organized sports have on gender. How are girls and boys impacted by organized sports?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Research shows that participation in organized sports impacts girls and boys differently. There are benefits for girl’s involvement in sports which include lower rates of teen sexual activity and pregnancy, higher rates of college attendance, labor force participation, and entry into male-dominated occupations. The impact of sports for boys shows that involvement in sports may perpetuate stereotypical gender roles and homophobic attitudes.
