Compare and contrast the dynamic causal perspective and the population heterogeneity perspective.
What will be an ideal response?
Both used in explaining the relationship between victimization and offending. Dynamic causal perspective the link between victimization and offending occurs because of the impact of these experiences on one another. Essentially this argument is based on the claim that specific negative incidents (victimization) modify attitudinal and behavioral patterns, which in turn shift the likelihood for engaging in the other (offending). Population heterogeneity perspective, or the “non-casual” argument, states that victimization does not cause offending or vice versa but instead they are both related to a personality characteristic or environment that do not change over time.
