Explain the process of feedback inhibition. What role do allosteric regulators play in this process? What will be an ideal response?
In feedback inhibition, the product of a metabolic pathway inhibits an earlier reaction in the
pathway. In some cases, the end product functions as an allosteric inhibitor in that the end
product binds to the allosteric site of an early enzyme in the pathway thus inhibiting that
enzyme and causing the pathway to stop.
