Discuss the purpose of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
What will be an ideal response?
The purpose of OSHA is to establish federal regulations relating to employee safety and health. Its original stated purpose was "to assure so far as possible every working man and woman in the nation safe and healthful working conditions and to preserve our human resources." The act contains a general-duty clause to cover those situations not addressed by specific standards. This clause states that each employer "shall furnish a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees."
