Define the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
What will be an ideal response?
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities and requires that businesses with more than 15 employees provide "reasonable accommodation" to allow the disabled to perform their jobs. On July 26, 2010 (the 20th anniversary of the ADA), President Obama signed an executive order designed "to establish the Federal Government as a model employer of individuals with disabilities," by increasing recruitment and training of people living with disabilities. In addition, there are changes in the Department of Justice's regulations implementing the ADA. These will affect parts of the ADA, including, for example, accessibility of recreational facilities and public facilities, sale of tickets for accessible seating, and allowing wheelchairs and scooters in all pedestrian areas.
