How did apartheid suffer from internal weaknesses and contradictions?

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. For example, jobs were strictly segregated, along with all other aspects of South African society. In an industrial economy, new types of jobs are constantly being created and old jobs are continually lost to automation. This makes it difficult to maintain simple, caste-like rules about who can do what kinds of work. Also, many of the newer jobs required higher levels of education and special skills, and the number of White South Africans was too small to meet the demand. Some Black South Africans were slowly rising to positions of greater affluence and personal freedom even as the system attempted to coerce and repress the group as a whole.
