What is the dramatic role of each of the following opera components? aria, recitative, overture, chorus

What will be an ideal response?

Recitative, from the word "recite," is a singing style in which the words are clearly understood, and move along quickly to push the drama forward. The "aria" is a reflective song in the opera. It is usually beautiful and emotional, and stops the forward movement of the drama. The overture is the opening instrumental material that foreshadows musical material that will be heard later in the opera and sets the mood for the performance. The chorus involves multiple singers and adds excitement to the opera. It often fits into the story by bringing to life a crowd scene such as a wedding or a return from battle.
