How does an understanding of Piaget’s theory of cognitive development assist an early childhood teacher to support families in regard to young children’s learning at home?

What will be an ideal response?

Early childhood teachers will assist families in understanding that children think differently than adults, thus their learning activities will be concrete and activity oriented. Teachers will help parents to understand that children construct their own knowledge as they interact with their environment. Emphasis will be on play with attention to the meaning of theory of mind as well as limitations such as egocentrism and centration. Teachers can offer this information through examples that are familiar to parents to increase their understanding.
