How will your rewards system encourage the player to progress? What kinds of rewards do you plan to offer?
What will be an ideal response?
Students should come up with a rewards system for their games that will encourage players to continue playing (and thus progress in the game). Examples of rewards systems and incentives include badges, congratulatory screens, combat victories, asset unlocking, cleanup/completion, leaderboards, achievements, points, scores, and even grades. (Don’t shy away from grading systems or other traditional “pedagogical” rewards. It is not uncommon for entertainment-only games to utilize grades as scoring systems. Anyone who has played through the Advance Wars franchise on the DS has repeatedly attempted to get an “S” (“Superior”) on each level – even higher than an “A.”)
