Briefly explain the components of RTI

What will be an ideal response?

RTI is a multi-tiered system of intervention. Students are screened regularly to determine their performance in specific academic areas (e.g., reading, math). Based on screening results, they are placed in the appropriate tier of intervention. Tier 1 refers to classroom instruction based on research-based methods. Students' progress is continually monitored to determine how they are responding to instruction. A student who does not reach benchmarks in a particular area may be placed in Tier 2, a small group for additional instruction, to give them an extra boost. If more help is needed, the student may be placed in Tier 3, a more intensive instruction. Further evaluation and placement in special education results if the student does not respond to Tier 3 instruction.
