Students should describe the PRAXISTM exams and include current criticisms, including how tests assess "low-level or marginally relevant knowledge and skills, how the cutoff scores for the tests sometimes are low or not enforced, and the lack of consistency across states. Regarding national testing, students may discuss the need to not only test what teachers know but also what they do in the classroom. The NBPTS uses videotapes of teachers and student work samples to assess teacher effectiveness and provide a good model for developing a national test.
