Women prefer dominant males in general. In modern times, this means that they prefer culturally
successful men who are better educated, have more money, and have better social standing. This way, a
woman gains not only benefits regarding resources but also reproductive benefits, as children of
successful men benefit from physiological and psychological health and longevity. While women value
ambition and industriousness, they also need men who are dedicated to the family, and that’s why they
are looking for long-term-oriented partners. In Western cultures, intimacy and emotionally satisfying
relationships are also highly valued. Women also value physical attractiveness related to good
genes—height, shoulder-to-hip ratio, and masculinity.
