Describe two benefits of using qualitative research to examine psychological disorders.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: 1. Qualitative research methods allow for vivid descriptions of client’s experiences and symptoms that may have otherwise not been attainable. Qualitative analysis of psychological disorders also provides a much richer understanding of the illness experience.
2. By learning about the firsthand experiences of depression, researchers and clinicians can design more effective methods of treatment and prevention and reassure clients that their experiences (such as feelings of emptiness) are shared by others.
