Compare and contrast the National Crime Victimization Survey with the International Crime Victim Survey

What will be an ideal response?

The International Crime Victim Surveys examine all types of crimes that occur with a specific country and the information is imputed to a centralized board which comply the surveys. Since different nations have different definitions there are some built in errors in the surveys. The National Crime Victimization Survey is conducted under the guidance of Bureau of Census. The NCVS began in 1973 and collects detailed information about certain criminal offenses, both attempted and completed, that concern the general public and law enforcement. These offenses include the frequency and nature of rape, robbery, assault, household burglary, personal and household theft, and motor vehicle theft. The NCVS does not measure homicide or commercial crimes. The NCVS was designed to complement the UCR. NCVS was established to provide previously unreported data about crime, victims, and offenders.
