Answers will vary but should include that conflict theorists view social inequality as a defining factor in regards to what is (or is not) deviant, as well as how deviance is punished. Capitalism is often perpetuated by deviance as the elite are less likely to be punished for crime. Individuals of the lower class are not necessarily more likely than the elite to participate in crime, they are simply more likely to be caught and more likely to punished. Sentencing disparities between crack and crack-cocaine-related crimes are an example of how the elite are often treated more favorably in the criminal justice system.
