Define the process of absorption.
What will be an ideal response?
Not all solids will dissolve in a liquid. Sometimes the liquid may be absorbed. The action of a sponge serves as a good example of absorption. When a dry sponge is put into water, the water is absorbed by the sponge. The sponge does not dissolve, the water merely penetrates into the sponge and the sponge becomes filled with water.
