ROM, or read-only memory, is a term used to describe memory chips on the motherboard that store programs that control the boot (start-up) process and configure a computer’s components. RAM, or random-access memory, consists of memory chips where the computer temporarily stores data for
quick retrieval so that it doesn’t have to access the HDD constantly.
