What are some key strategies that students might use to deal with unknown single-syllable and multisyllabic words?

What will be an ideal response?

Some key strategies that can be used to figure out unknown words, whether they are single-syllable or multisyllabic words.
1 Using the pronounceable word part technique, students look for part of the word that seems familiar. Often saying part of the word is enough to get the student to say the entire word.
2 Using the analogy strategy, students think of common words and compare them to sound out an unfamiliar word with a similar spelling or the syllables in a difficult multisyllabic word, usually one that is in their listening vocabulary but not in their reading vocabulary.
3 Context can also be used with these techniques or alone.
