Briefly explain critical values of z and why this is important.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: zcritical is the z-score that zobs must exceed for us to reject the null hypothesis. By exceed we mean further from 0 than the criterion. For example, 2.3 exceeds 1.645, and –2.3 exceeds –1.645. This issue of critical values of z arises from the p < .05 criterion for statistical significance.
