Despite many not believing that Hispanics share a common culture, many would argue that Hispanics do share some important cultural values. One example is the family and group orientation, with Hispanic cultures valuing the extended family. It is also contended that the cultural value of power distance or hierarchical relationships is important in that many Hispanics place a value on respecto or deferring to those who are viewed as authority figures. Further, for many, religion and spirituality play a critical role.
