Describe how vasopressin helps regulate blood pressure
What will be an ideal response?
Vasopressin works in two ways to help regulate blood pressure. It is a potent vasoconstrictor, and by promoting constriction of many arteries in the body, this can help raise the body's mean arterial pressure. In addition, vasopressin causes the kidneys to conserve water and not excrete as much urine. Conserving water prevents the blood's plasma volume from decreasing, which helps maintain adequate blood pressure.
