large as ten meters across. Often plant growth within the fairy ring is impaired. With your

A fairy ring fungal formation consists of much more than is visible above ground. It is thought to be
the result of a single spore that developed an intricate network of mycelia beneath the surface within
the circle. This intricate fungal network can deplete the soil of valuable minerals so that plant growth
within the circle is impaired. A fairy ring formation illustrates that often a fungus consists of much
more than meets the eye!
