Explain the hypersensitive response
What will be an ideal response?
When a plant becomes infected by bacteria or fungi it may be able to defend against the attack by
surrounding the infected cells with dead cells. The process begins when a highly reactive oxygencontaining
compound breaks down nucleic acids, inactivate enzymes, or compounds that have other
toxic effects on cells. This initiates the killing of cells.
