Why do network technicians often use a USB NIC when troubleshooting the network?

What will be an ideal response?

If the technician is not willing to open a PC case, he can get NICs with USB connections. USB NICs are handy to keep in his toolkit. If he walks up to a machine that might have a bad NIC, the technician can test suspicions by inserting a USB NIC and moving the network cable from the potentially bad NIC to the USB one.
