Suppose that a researcher has developed a new drug for the treatment of ADHD. How would you design an appropriate test to ensure that the drug was effective?

What will be an ideal response?

Answers should show understanding of experimental design, and can take a number of different routes to it. The student should show an understanding of the need for informed consent, for use of controls (positive and negative controls), and would most likely compare a current ADHD drug in a double blinded study with the new drug. Assessment of effectiveness, dosage and side effects would be included in a good answer.
