Explain the Marxist perspective on social problems. Do you agree with this perspective? Why or why not? Use specific examples of real-world situations to support your arguments

What will be an ideal response?

• According to Marxist (or critical-conflict) theorists, groups are engaged in a continuous power struggle for control of scarce resources. As a result of the unjust use of political,
economic, or social power, certain groups are privileged while others are disadvantaged. Thus, for critical-conflict theorists, social problems arise out of major contradictions
that are inherent in the ways in which societies are organized. When this approach is used, the root causes of social problems—patriarchy, capitalism, and massive spending on the U.S. military-industrial complex at the expense of human services, for example—must be radically altered or eliminated altogether
