Identify three considerations to keep in mind when preparing and delivering a toast
What will be an ideal response?
Several issues should be considered when giving a toast: 1) Be brief – realize that people want to get on with the festivities and do not want to hear an overly long speech. 2) Focus attention on the person(s) you are toasting – avoid the common mistake of talking about yourself. 3) Avoid inside jokes – don't tell jokes or use language that only a few people would understand, leaving the rest of the attendees out of the picture. 4) End the speech clearly – when you raise your glass, make the audience realize that they should drink and that your speech is over.
