Explain the pros and cons of universal basic incomes.

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. Universal basic incomes would provide a true safety net without all of the rules and requirements now attached to welfare and public benefits. They would be especially helpful to women who generally provide lots of unpaid labor associated with bearing and raising children and caring for others. Since all citizens would receive this benefit, there may be less resistance to this program, but it would be expensive. It would also require changes in the way Americans view the relationships among work income, caretaking, and the well-being of society.
