What will be an ideal response?

Answers should address that resiliency can be defined as the ability to cope with and thrive in the
face of risks and difficulties, avoiding many of the deleterious effects of traumatic experiences. The
degree of resilience that a youth has depends on a complex interaction of risk factors balanced with
protective factors. Protective factors are often considered and measured as the absence of risk factors.
One must consider the heritable factors, individual characteristics, and experiences over time. These may
include individual cognitive factors, biological factors, interpersonal factors and family-related factors.
Examples of protective factors will vary.
