Compare and contrast jails and prisons. How does psychological treatment differ according to the setting?

What will be an ideal response?

Jails are operated by local governments and primarily hold persons for short time periods. About half of the individuals held in jails are innocent; they are detainees, not convicted of the crime of which they are accused. Prisons are facilities operated by the federal government and all states for persons convicted of felonies, and typically sentenced to terms of more than 1 year. Prisons are classified by the level of security maintained over the inmates: minimum, medium, and maximum.
