How can a novice interviewer begin to establish an interviewer repertoire?

What will be an ideal response?

A new interviewer should practice conducting interviews. One way is to role-play with experienced interviewers to practice questioning techniques and projected characterizations. The interviewer can use several techniques to get started: uncomfortable silence, echoing, letting people talk. These techniques give people sufficient space and time to consider and present a response, allowing the interviewee to feel confirmation that you are listening and understanding, and feel valued. When interviewers have practiced these techniques, they should have a dress rehearsal interview and practice in a less important location or on a briefed sample subject.
