Briefly describe the differences in the digestive tracts of animals with an incomplete and a complete gut.
What will be an ideal response?
An incomplete digestive tract has a single opening, usually called a mouth. This single opening is used for both the entrance of food and the exit for nondigestible wastes. There is no specialization of parts in an incomplete digestive tract. Animals with complete digestive tracts have a mouth and an anus. Food enters through the mouth and there are normally specialized parts of the digestive tract that have particular functions in the digestion of food, like the intestines and stomach. Any undigested food particles are excreted through the anus.
