What are the criteria for diagnosing mild cognitive impairment and age-associated cognitive decline? Summarize the implications (prognosis) of each

What will be an ideal response?

The criteria for diagnosing MCI and AACD include a gradual decline in cognitive function along with low scores on standardized tests. A specific disorder that might account for the symptoms must be ruled out. The prognoses for the two disorders are very different. Many believe that MCI is a precursor to Alzheimer's, but that it can be slowed or even prevented through the use of medications. Longitudinal research, however, does not wholly support this thinking.
