What is a randomized clinical trial?

What will be an ideal response?

Randomized clinical trials are commonly used to determine whether a treatment is effective. One group of subjects is given a treatment, while another is given a placebo. Ideally, the study is double-blind, meaning that neither the subjects nor whoever is assessing whether the treatment has had an effect knows what condition the subject is in. Such procedures are designed to control for potential bias.
