Serial bombers are motivated by the following dynamics: a desire to create mass destruction to areas where they often can watch the trauma unfold. They are usually of higher intelligence and skilled in a profession involving use of their hands; alienated from others in terms of intimacy; and are either sexually inactive or sexually defective. They are not so much interested in killing people, but are motivated by a desire to cause property destruction on a large scale. Suicide bombers are usually associated with extreme religious, social, or political reform movements or groups. Even those who do not belong to a zealot group can join in this game of insanity by claiming a mission to die for a pure and just cause. Suicide bombers tend to go through months of preparation before the suicide explosion; during this time, they sink into a deeper agitated depression with the delusional belief that through their death they will be able to make both a statement and a difference that will affect change on the target or the broader social system in which the target lives and functions.
