Explain what will eventually happen to the magnetic field as Earth continues cooling
What will be an ideal response?
The magnetic field is produced from the convecting liquid in the outer core. As the Earth cools, the outer core will continue to solidify. This would mean that eventually all of the outer core will solidify and convection would stop. At this point, the magnetic field will cease to exist.
