Why is it important for the radiographer to know how to apply both the paralleling and bisecting techniques?
What will be an ideal response?
The radiographer who possesses knowledge of both techniques is better able to produce diagnostic-quality radiographs under the various conditions with which patients present.. The paralleling technique is the technique of choice, but when the curvature of the palate or irregularities in the oral cavity prevent the radiographer from placing the image receptor parallel to the long axes of teeth, careful attention to the steps of the bisecting technique can produce an acceptable image when needed.
