Describe how memories are created

What will be an ideal response?

In short-term memory information is stored immediately but only lasts for a short period of time (seconds to hours); it has a limited storage capacity but allows rapid retrieval. It fades over time unless consolidated. In long-term memory information is stored for later retrieval and lasts for extended periods of time (days to years); it has a large storage capacity with a slow retrieval time. Once acquired it has a stable memory trace.
