Garlic mustard is an invasive, alien, biennial plant. It is native to eastern Europe and was brought to this country to be used as a spice. Since garlic mustard is biennial, the plants could be eliminated after one year of growth before they flower and produce seeds the following year. This could be achieved by hand pulling. Once the plants set seed they could be pulled or cut at ground level before the seeds are released. These methods will have to be repeated for several years if seeds are already in the soil.
