?Explain what happens during an initial client interview. What is the paralegal's role?
What will be an ideal response?
During an initial client interview, the client explains his legal problem so that the attorney can advise the client on possible legal options and the fees that may be involved. Also, the client and the attorney will agree on the terms of representation should the attorney decide to take the case. Although the attorney normally conducts the initial client interview, the paralegal often attends. The paralegal's role is to observe the client, take notes on what the client is saying, provide the client with forms and statements explaining the firm's fees, and provide the client with other prepared information. After the interview, the paralegal and the attorney often compare their impressions of the client and what the client said during the interview. Paralegals should make sure that if the supervising attorney does not indicate the paralegal's non attorney status to the client, the paralegal does so.?
