Describe the structure of DNA.

What will be an ideal response?

The monomer is a nucleotide of deoxyribose, phosphate, and a nitrogenous base. The molecule is double stranded and looks like a ladder. The sides of the ladder are the sugar-phosphate backbone and the rungs of the ladder are the bases. The bases are complementary with adenine (A) pairing with thymine (T) and guanine (G) pairing with cytosine (C). DNA stores the hereditary information for cells.
