Explain what is involved in the second step of facilitating the Socratic Seminar model. Focus your response on the teacher and student roles in this second step

What will be an ideal response?

In the second step of the Socratic Seminar model, the teacher facilitates the discussion by asking opening questions and following up with additional questions corresponding to the flow of the dialogue. The teacher also monitors student progress and observes student behavior. The teacher may take notes to record important points and discoveries. Finally the teacher continues to generate questions to extend and deepen student learning. During this step, the students respond to questions posed by the teacher by addressing one another. They acknowledge one another's contributions, react to peers' ideas, and build on what is explored to co-construct meaning of the content materials. Students adhere to ground rules.
