In an attempt to have parents more involved in correcting their children’s misbehavior, British youth courts can use Parenting Contracts and Parenting Orders. Explain and distinguish between those contracts and orders

What will be an ideal response?

Parenting Contracts can be used when parents are not cooperating with the Youth Offending Team. The contracts are voluntary, but provide a formal structure specifying particular requirements the parents must meet—such as making sure their child is at home at night and making sure they go to school. Parenting Orders are a way to sanction parents of misbehaving young people and are likely to be used when a Parenting Contract has not produced desired results. Two elements of the Parenting Order are (1) requiring the parent to attend counseling or guidance sessions, and (2) parents must exercise a measure of control over their child—such as ensuring they avoid certain people or places.
