Briefly explain why critics did not readily accept the Darwin-Wallace theory of natural selection. What possibilities did they ignore?

Critics thought that a partially evolved eye or wing would not be useful, and therefore the eye and the wing could not have evolved but must have been created as a whole. They ignored the possibility that the eye or wing was used for something else before it evolved to where it is today. For example, a wing might have been used for stability.
