Discuss one similarity and one difference between the information-processing theories of development and Piaget's theory of development
What will be an ideal response?
Both theories seek to understand the same fundamental questions, such as "what develops?" and "how does development occur?" However, information-processing methods are designed to provide detailed data of children solving a single type of problem, whereas Piaget's methods were designed to provide a general description of children's thinking across a broad range of problems. Other answers would also be acceptable (see page 67 in text).
