What role does professionalism play in securing family support for the early childhood profession?
What will be an ideal response?
The teacher-family relationship is a reciprocal process. In order for teachers to accurately convey the issues that they face and motivate families to become advocates for the profession, teachers must first demonstrate that they are professionals with valuable skills and specialized training that deserve more robust support and compensation. Their behavior and words bear out this message by being well informed, caring, and enthusiastic about their work. This in turn gives families confidence in the competency of their children’s teachers and makes them more likely to want to help improve the status and working conditions of teachers.
