What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Mental Health disorders can affect all segments of society and have a tremendous impact on the individual and significant relationships. The adolescent may have very little help from immediate family members until an outside agency/organization becomes involved. As a “vulnerable” individual, the social worker is bound by the Code of Ethics to provide services, respect that person’s right to self-determination, and ensure he/she receive interventions or benefits that match his/her needs. In the event that the parent is unwilling to participate in a professional helping relationship, the social worker is challenged to find a support system that ensures the adolescent does receive services.
